The years of credit cards being very popular could well be over a recent survey and findings have suggested. Over the years the popularity of people using credit cards has been a complete phenomena that has swept the United Kingdom which ultimately resulted in the credit crunch and the crisis many people faced was down to living way beyond their means.

Credit cards when used sensibly are a fantastic product as they help people manage their money, spread payments to make purchases more affordable and gives people credit so that they are not spending the money straight away. The credit card company puts what is called an APR on every purchase which is normally a percentage and that is their ‘fee’ for lending the money.

These percentages range from a few percent up to around thirty percent and this depends normally on the person’s credit rating. If they have a very good rating then they can normally get a low APR because they are seen as being good payers and therefore less likely to default. If they have missed payments in the past they will have a bad rating and therefore are more likely to miss payments so they get a high APR because they represent a high risk for the credit card company.

This unfortunately is not a good business practice as many people in the years leading up to the credit crisis were heavily sold to by credit card companies to take more and more plastic cards. Also with high APR rates it makes it very difficult for a person to pay off that interest and so they find themselves in a constant state of debt.

For many people within the United Kingdom they have learned a very costly lesson that living on credit and beyond one’s means is a very dangerous thing to do and often will result in a lot of stress and loss of assets if it goes out of control. So in recent months figures have shown that less credit cards are being taken up due to people being much less keen to go on credit again. Also they have learned that a credit card puts on percentage of every purchase which means that they are paying a lot of interest each month. With the credit crunch being a rough as it has been for many families it means that many people do not have any money left over at the end of each month so they have realised that by not using the credit cards they can save a nice sum of money this way.

Credit card companies are essentially silent middle men who collect nice sums of money for lending money to people and many people are happy for them to do so because it is so convenient for them. This is a good business and credit card companies are correct to put interest on each purchase however the days of them forcing credit on to people now appear to be officially over for now. Hopefully people have learned a lesson and will not go back to their old ways.

The domestic house key has been in practical use throughout the entire world and the United Kingdom for many centuries, dating all the way back to the times of the castles and kingdoms that once scattered the lands. These locks and keys were for large buildings and important homes of officials and politicians but over time they became common place among normal citizens and their homes.

The domestic key is used on nearly every domestic home in the United Kingdom today and this is simply because it is a very efficient way of opening and locking a door as most people have their house keys attached to a key ring that will have their car keys on as well. Also the main reason domestic homes use the key for their locking needs is because of the cheap price that keys can be cut and the difficulty it gives for a criminal to break the lock off (depending on how strong the lock and door is).

In simple terms the key is the instrument that can operate (open and close) the locking mechanism that is normally attached to a door. A key operates from two parts which are the blade and the bow and these two aspects are cut in unique ways so that the door can only be opened by that specifically cut key. The key is one of the most popular products among the Western culture and nearly every citizen will carry some form of a key to gain entry to the property that they are staying in.

The domestic house key has been so popular over the years because of the inexpensive cost to cut them. What has happened though is that technology has began to catch up and the cost of technology has also come down which now means that the domestic key may not be the cheapest form of authenticating a person’s entry to a property for much longer.

The method that many people are saying will replace the normal domestic house key is going to be in the form of a key card. This will be similar to the types of key cards that they use at large offices so that people can swipe themselves in and out very easily. The key cards will be printed on plastic cards and will have unique codes imprinted on the magnetic strips which will give a person access to the property. The reason this will become more practical is because the cost of printing a plastic card and applying the necessary data on to it is far cheaper than cutting a key mechanically.

Also it is not practical to carry keys around due to the weight and it would be much simpler to be able to have the access point to one’s home in their wallets. This also may be the way car keys develop as many super cars such as Bentleys now do not use normal keys but plastic cards to turn on the ignitions. Plastic cards are going to eventually replace all types of keys as they are much more cost effective and practical to carry around.
